About this item:
I acquired this Ukiyo-e original wood block painting at a
swap-meet in my area. It is in perfect condition. The print
is on traditional rice paper. The subject matter of this piece
is a beautiful vibrant green tree limb with what look like
maple leaves and bright large pink flowers with blossoms.
In the lower left center are two finch like birds in great
sienna browns and black. On the bottom right corner of this
painting is an oil mark stamp Uchida. On the bottom left it
looks like it is numbered 5/8. On the top right hand border
is the title of the paiting in pencil of traditional Japanese
script. There are also some symbols on the lower left corner
painted in red and black, which to me may possibly be the
artist mark or signature. I have the certificate of authenticity
that was attached to the cardboard the painting was on, which
has now been removed from and framed with archival materials.
Any information on this peice would be wonderful! I realize
that the Japanese are a very old civilization and most paintings
aren't what they would call antique. However, I would love
to know some history to the fabulous painting! |
