The
present-day prosperity of the Aoi district of Takaoka is the cumulative
result of the extraordinary efforts of the people who settled there after
the War. This monument is meant to convey the struggles of these pioneers
as they drew together, helped and encouraged one another in building the
foundation for a thriving community.
