Mino Ware - A Type of Japanese Ceramics originating from the Mino Province, which is now part of Gifu Prefecture

-Mino Ware-

English Definition:
Mino Ware ~ Ceramics originating from the Mino Province, which is now part of Gifu Prefecture

There are many types of ceramics that came out of the Mino Province, including the Shino and Oribe styles which are famous for their use in Japanese Tea Ceremony. The Shino style is known for its almost pure white glaze, while the Oribe style is characterized by its greens. Mino Ware fell out of construction for many years until a potter named Arakawa Toyozo discovered the Mino kiln sites in the early 20th century and began a revival of the style, which continues on to this day.

Note: "Mino Ware" relates to the craft, Yakimono, Japanese ceramics.
