Kutani Ware - A style of ceramics made in the Kaga Province which is modern day Ishikawa Prefecture

Kutani Ware ~ Name of a style of ceramics made in the Kaga Province which is modern day Ishikawa Prefecture

Kutani Ware pieces, typically plates and bowls, were first produced in the late 17th century and emphasized green and yellow designs. Today, Kutani Ware maintains a prominent place in Japanese Tea Ceremony. The Kutani name is also sometimes applied to the red and gold pieces which are popular in Western countries.

Note: "Kutani Ware" relates to the craft, Yakimono, Japanese ceramics.
