Chochin - Paper Lantern

-Chochin-

English Definition:
Paper lantern

Japanese paper lanterns used to light the outside of a building, often a restaurant, when hung from the eaves. Also used to light the way in processions. Introduced to Japan, along with Buddhism, in the late 6th century.

Note: "Chochin" relates to the craft, Toro, Japanese stone garden lanterns.
